The Black Woman Who Built the First University.

They tell you the Renaissance rescued Europe.

They tell you civilization “returned” in the 1400s.

But they never tell you who kept the light burning…

It was a Black woman from North Africa.

In 859 CE, Fatima al-Fihri founded Al-Qarawiyyin in Fez, Morocco — the oldest continuously operating university in the world.

Before Oxford. Before Cambridge. Before the Sorbonne.

Her institution taught mathematics, medicine, astronomy, philosophy, linguistics, chemistry, law, and the sciences of mind. Europe learned how to learn from the school she built.

More than 1,150 years later, her university still stands. Still teaching. Still changing the world.

Honor Fatima al-Fihri — The Black woman who created the blueprint for global education.
